World Class Manufacturing

The manufacturing of Ingersoll Rand's Power Tools is concentrated in seven major facilities; three in the USA, two in Japan, one in the UK and one in France. Parts and components are sourced from vendors throughout the world.
This worldwide manufacturing capability enables Ingersoll Rand to locally produce products for specific markets, thus ensuring uninterrupted service, parts and new products. It also provides for customisation to suit local requirements, whilst maintaining consistent quality of performance.
Over 50% of the Power Tool product range is made at the engineering and manufacturing facility in Athens, Pennsylvania, USA. Here. state-of-the-art computer design technology enables engineers to develop new and advanced product concepts on an ongoing basis. With the emphasis on cellular and computer integrated manufacturing, CAD/CAM/CAPP systems and a paperless manufacturing system have already been implemented, along with the development of a group technology database.
The Swan Lane facility in Wigan, UK, is the European manufacturing facility for a wide range of the Power Tool product line. With over 25 years of manufacturing experience, the plant engineers and produces Impactools, Grinders and Percussive Tools as well as Pumps and Hoists for markets across Europe and around the world. The plant's manufacturing expertise is complemented by a commitment to new technology and improved production processes, underpinned by a rigorous programme of Total Quality Management. Equipped with the latest design in CNC machine tools and boasting a flexible manufacturing system incorporating the latest advances in work and tool management, the Swan Lane facility is accredited with ISO 9002 certification - a guarantee of excellence to its customers around the world.
New product development at Ingersoll Rand is driven by multi-disciplined teams who involve both customer and vendor throughout their concept-to-production approach. Thanks to advanced CAD/CAM systems, highly efficient concurrent engineering procedures and computer-controlled laser building of prototype parts, new product development programmes which previously took as long as four years are now being completed in under eighteen months.

Ingersoll Rand Power Tools are available to you all over the world.
Stocking and distribution is concentrated in two main centres - one in France and one in the USA, although many popular models are now distributed direct from the factory on a just-in-time basis. The 10,200 sq m European distribution centre in Trappes, near Paris, France, handles around 100 tons of Power Tool products every week, shipping by air, truck and sea to over 400 distributors and Ingersoll Rand locations. Similarly, the 25,000 sq m distribution centre in White House, Tennessee, USA, each week processes over 4,000 incoming customer calls, 2,500 purchase orders and outgoing product shipments in excess of 60 tons.
From these centres and direct from the factories, Ingersoll Rand Power Tools are spread over a network of more than 1,600 official distributions, giving the Company world leadership in establishing and maintaining a local presence. The net result is that there is always a local Ingersoll Rand office or official Power Tool distributor nearby.
The majority of Power Tool distributors have direct access to Ingersoll Rand's International Distribution System (IDS), a world wide communications network which allows them to directly check availability, enter and expedite orders and look into a variety of technical and commercial information programmes.
